Water is the most important component of the environment. All plants and animals depend on water for survival. Forests act as water catchment areas. In Kenya, the following are the main water towers: Mau forest, Mt. Kenya Forest, Mt. Elgon, Mau Forest and Aberdare Ranges. With the exception of Mt Elgon, these areas are also where the last remaining Bongos are located in Kenya.

Some Considerations for Water Conservation Projects :

    • Harvesting rain water. To do this most effectively a water tank and guttering is required
    • Or simply‚Ķ. Re-using, recycling and using water sparingly.
    • Other methods that can be used to conserve water include; Using shades, mulching and using drip irrigation.
